Dance around the World

Different cultures around the world have created musical instruments with the materials available in their area. Nearly every culture of man has come up with their own style of music and dance. The rhythms of their lives have influenced the style and speed of their music. In turn, each culture has styles of dance that fit their lifestyle. Many have both informal and formal dance styles. These developed over centuries to fit the needs of the culture.

Formal dance styles are often done during religious and cultural celebrations. They are the dances that signify important events in the lives of a group of people. Some of them are for marriage ceremonies, and others signify death. There are dances to request rain and fair winds, and dances that ask for peace and harmony for the tribe. Informal dances are generally nothing more than a celebration of life while listening to music.
